Refurbishment of Transport House
The brief for this project was to combine an imposing palazzo with two modern flats in order to house various government agency offices. A feasibility study was first carried out in order to ascertain whether the spaces available could accommodate the number of people within the various agencies as well as the required amenities. The design philosophy adopted for the interior finishing and design of the building played upon the interconnectedness between old and modern spaces, by restoring the historic structures and by giving the new annexes a contemporary finish. The transition space between historic and contemporary will located in the internal courtyard which was re-interpreted and re-opened using structural walk-on glass so as to give a sense of transparency and a harmonious blend of historic and new.
